Colin Jackson

Great Britain’s finest ever sprint hurdler, Colin Jackson, is backing our Count Me In campaign which seeks to raise the profile of disability sport; create and extend access to sport and physical activity for disabled people; and encourage and support all organisations involved in the provision of sport to demonstrate a commitment to giving disabled people the same opportunities as non-disabled people.

EFDS President Bernard Atha signed Colin up to the campaign at the CADS Conference at the Bolton Arena.

Launched by Ambassador 2018 World Cup Bid Richard Caborn and backed by the Disability Rights Commission, so far in the campaign EFDS has signed up Health Minister Alan Johnson, Ambassador 2018 World Cup Bid Richard Caborn, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State Anne McGuire, Chair of the Disability Rights Commission Bert Massie, Chair UK Sport Sue Campbell, Chief Executive Youth Sport Trust Steve Grainger and Director Office of Disability Issues Bruce Calderwood.  Big sporting names like Ade Adepitan, Sir Trevor Brooking, Darren Campbell, Linford Christie, Duncan Goodhew, Dame Kelly Holmes, Danny Mills, Ian Rose, Uriah Rennie, Tessa Sanderson, Iwan Thomas and Marc Woods are also backing the campaign. We’ve also got organisations such as Nationwide, npower and BBC on our side.

We want to have Counted in over 10,000 people by end March 2007.  This is your opportunity to give disabled people a sporting chance.  By adding your name to our list you will give us the clout we need to channel more resources into disability sport.
